Official 2018 Poster Competition Winner: Amy Baca López

Returning to the Land of Enchantment after 7 years of art making in Southern California, Amy Baca López is thrilled to be creating in New Mexico again. She loves the vast blue skies, the Sandia mountains, the cottonwood trees, and the wide open

Amy trekked the Camino de Santiago in Northwestern Spain back in 2009, and came back an artist. After years as a graphic designer / marketing maven, she reasons, “I figure if I can walk across a country, I can paint across a canvas. Both are slow, and
that’s ok with me.”

Her North Valley studio is an old barn with a deck on two sides facing the bosque trails. “I love to work outside, and be immersed in nature. Natural light is the best, and so is fresh air.”

Her list of credits include Resident Artist for https://espanapildoras.com/antibioticos/zithromax-espana/ North Park Main Street Association, Set Artist for MTV’s The Real World, purple ribbon holder for Best of Show at the New Mexico Wine Festival, and she was one of 3 artists representing the United States of America at the Parallax International Art Fair in London.

She has a show of her most recent works showcased at El Patio’s new location on Rio Grande Blvd and Griegos, where both original paintings and prints are available for purchase.

She also writes a line of witty and wildly whimsical black and white greeting cards called Pop Up Positivity. They can be found at La Montanita Co-Op, Duran Central Pharmacy, Patrician Design, Bookworks, Plaza Gifts,Ecco in Santa Fe, as well as Serenity Shop and Bamboo Boutique in San Diego.

Find her at Downtown Growers Market on summer Saturday mornings, and online at amybacalopez.com, facebook.com/artistamybacalopez, and instagram.com/amybacalopez.
